The founding families and senior leadership who guide Traditional Funerals with compassion and integrity.

Dominic Markgraf-Smith
General Manager
Dominic Markgraf-Smith
As a young boy growing up in South East Queensland he often dreamed of travelling and working in far flung corners of the globe. Then, as a young and inexperienced professional singer, he got this chance. Dominic spent the following 15 years or so travelling and working in over 30 countries. He was afforded opportunities to collaborate, create and perform at the highest level within the music industry and foster relationships, both professionally and personally, that he still cherishes to this day.
After feeling the music industry had run its course, Dominic settled in Germany and turned his attention on slowing life down and focused on a new career in the Education Industry as an English Teacher. This job allowed him to hone his skills as a strong, patient and empathetic communicator.
In the subsequent years Dominic returned to Australia and settled again back in South East Queensland. Dominic joined the team at Traditional Funerals as a Funeral Director bringing with him all of his life experiences. Dominic loves his new found career and he believes that working in the Funeral Industry is so much more than just organising funerals. It’s an opportunity to guide people through the incredibly difficult time of losing a family member. Most importantly, Dominic sees his role as an opportunity to extend a hand to a stranger and say, “come on in, we are here to help”.

Iain Potts
Operations Manager
Iain Potts
Iain brings quiet dedication, empathy, and a strong sense of responsibility to everything he does. He spent the first 12 years of his career at Sizzler Restaurant, where he worked his way up to General Manager. Along the way, he was invited to be part of training teams in Perth and Dubai – an experience he found both humbling and rewarding. One of the things he appreciated most during that time was being able to support and mentor his team, helping to create a positive and encouraging workplace.
For the past 11 years, Iain has been a valued member of the Traditional Funerals team. He’s someone who continues to learn from those around him—both his colleagues and the families they have the privilege to support. He considers every opportunity to care for someone who has passed as an honour, no matter the role. Through his own life experiences- becoming a father of three and also navigating the heart breaking loss of a child – he has developed a deeper understanding of just how meaningful and important funerals are.
Today, he is the Operation Manager of Traditional Funerals. He feels it to be a privilege to care for the staff that care for the grieving families we serve. Iain is known for his compassion, honesty, and attention to detail. He takes his responsibilities seriously and feels fortunate to play a part in the care provided to the community.
Outside of work, Iain is a family man who treasures time with his wife and children. He has a love for music and sport, and he’s happiest when surrounded by the people he loves most.
